Chemcut Employee Don Ball Honored With PCMI Award

CHEMCUT EMPLOYEE DON BALL HONORED WITH PCMI AWARD
State College, PA – Chemcut Corporation employee Don Ball was recently honored by the Photochemical Machining Institute ("PCMI") for his contributions to the field of photochemical machining. Ball received the career achievement award at PCMI's fall conference in Milwaukee, WI. The award was presented during the keynote address by ChemArt Founder and CEO Dick Beaupre.
Rick Lies, Chemcut's CEO and General Manger, recognized the importance of Ball's research following the award, stating, "Don's research and industry knowledge have had a tremendous positive impact on Chemcut and the entire photochemical machining industry. We're pleased and very proud to have had Don on our team for the past 32 years. His dedication and devotion to Chemcut and the photochemical machining industry are unsurpassed and set a very high benchmark for those who may wish to follow in his footsteps."
Many of Ball's research studies were published in industry journals over the past two decades, starting with his 1987 paper Fluid Heads. Other published works have include New Techniques & Developments in Etching Uniformity, Uniformity of Etching, Fine Line Etching of Lead Frames, Fan Nozzles vs. Cone Nozzles, Etchant/Panel Interface, and a 2006 paper titled Thoughts on Undercut. Ball continues to serve as Chemcut's Process Engineer.
Chemcut Corporation, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2007, was the original developer of spray etching, a technique that made the chemical etching process practical for volume, as well as prototype production, and has made chemical etching an effective metalworking tool.
